Nature is an important inspiration for the work that we do at Devrai. This painting is a moment captured in the Devrai forest garden. The bird in this painting is a Sunbird, and it is sitting on a Palash tree, which is native to tropical and sub-tropical parts of South Asia. The sunbird has been cast in brass using the Dhokra process.

Materials: Acrylic Paint on Canvas, Brass, Wooden Frame
Dimensions (cm): 33 x 33 x 5

About the Technique: The bird has been made using the Dhokra process. Dhokra is an ancient form of metal art, also known as lost wax casting. The sculpture is made in wax first, a mould is made around it, and during casting the wax is replaced by brass, thus the name ‘lost wax casting’.
