Tumba Art

There has been a metamorphosis in the traditional dried gourd craft at Devrai. We have lamps with different design patterns such as Mandala art, nature inspired motifs, stories and myths etched on the surface. Tumba has been put to many other uses as well – we have flower vases, the bigger ones have even turned into wine and beer casks with taps! Draped in fabric, Tumbas have even been turned into puppets. As lamps, they tell stories in mesmerising patterns of light and shadow but as puppets, they transport us into a different world altogether.
